Srinagar: The Government’s ambitious urban outreach programme, ‘My Town My Pride’ began Monday here with great enthusiasm and people thronged the venue in large numbers to participate in grassroots level democracy.
The programme is aimed at reaching out to people for maximum coverage under beneficiary oriented schemes, grievance redressal and participatory planning process.
In this connection an event was held here at Baghat, Srinagar where both officers as well as officials from over a dozen government departments participated to reach out to the people with multiple beneficiary and awareness schemes offered by the government.
The government functionaries listened patiently to the peoples issues, grievances and demands and resolved some of the grievances and issues on the spot while forwarding others to the concerned departments for timely redressal.
Various government departments including Education, Sports, Social Welfare, Handicraft, Floriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, SMC, ICDS, PWD, UEE, Jal Shakti, SDA, Tehsil Office Chanapora and Pantha Chowk, DIC, FCS&CA and RTO Kashmir besides J&K Bank had set up stalls at the venue to create awareness among people about the beneficiary oriented schemes so that they get benefitted.
The programme witnessed huge participation of people who submitted application forms in different departments to avail the benefits.
On the occasion, Tehsil Office Chanapora, Pantha Chowk issued more than 150 Domicile Certificates and Income Certificates each among the applicants.
Meanwhile, ADC Srinagar, Khursheed Ahmad Shah distributed Sports kits among the players of Diamond Club PeerBagh, Srinagar and Real Club Baghat, Srinagar. He also handed over cheques among Self Help Groups.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Chowdhry had visited the venue to take stock of the arrangements for the successful conduct of the programme and interacted with the officers of various departments and the general public.
The programme was presided over by Assisting Officer, SE UEED Circle 2nd, Srinagar, while CEO, Srinagar was the nodal Officer.
