Baramulla: As part of the celebrations of ‘International Day of the Girl Child 2020’, the Women’s Development Cell of the Government Degree College Baramulla in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized an extension lecture on the theme “Personal Hygiene” here.
The lecture specifically arranged for the benefit of female staff and students of the college was delivered by renowned gynecologist and counselor –Dr Farah Nabi, Assistant Professor Gynaecology, Government Medical College Baramulla.
The session was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Prof. Maqbool Ahmad Rather, he stressed on the significance of the topic for the creation of hygienic and gender-sensitive society.
The resource person Dr. Farah Nabi discussed threadbare the nitty-gritty of personal hygiene and emphasised its role in leading a quality life. She enjoined the students to work as ambassadors of change by sensitizing the communities about the need of maintaining hygiene so that the incidence of various bodily diseases Viz. oral, dermal and menstrual, for instance – is minimized.
Besides, she remarked that personal hygiene has a direct bearing on the level of self-confidence, agency, and mental health among women.
The lecture was followed by a charged Question and Answer session wherein the audience raised various issues and sought clarifications from the guest speaker.
