The end of this world, the resurrection of man and the terror of the Day of Judgment are among the main subjects of the Holy Quran. The destruction of this world, helplessness of man and his accountability to his Lord are described in a superb style which is unparalleled in the religious literature of the world. The horror of the Day is such that the guilty one will long to ransom and redeem himself by sacrificing his children, his wife, his brother, his friends and all that is on the earth. But alas it will never happen. They will not (have to) wait for aught but a single blast. It will seize them while they are yet disputing among themselves. No (chance) will they then have, by will to dispose (of their affairs) nor to return to their own people. The Trumpet shall be sounded when, behold, from the sepulchers( men) will rush forth to their Lord. (Surah 36- verse 49-51). The Trumpet will (just) be sounded, when all that are in the heavens and on the earth will swoon, except such as it will please Allah (to exempt). Then will a second one be sounded, when behold, they will be standing and looking on! And the earth will shine with the Glory of its Lord: the Record (of deeds) will be placed (open); the Prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward; and a just decision pronounced between them; and they will not be wronged (in the least). And to every soul will be paid in full (the fruit) of its deeds; and (Allah) Knoweth best all that they do (Surah 39- Verse 68-70).
When the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion, and the earth throws up her burdens (form within), and man cries (distressed): “what is the matter with her?” On that Day will she declare her tidings; for that thy Lord will have given her inspiration.
And the earth is moved, and its mountains and they are crushed to powder at one stroke. On that Day shall the (great) event come to pass, and the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that day be flimsy. (Surah 69- Verse 14-16). When the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion, and the earth throws up her burdens (form within), and man cries (distressed): “what is the matter with her?” On that Day will she declare her tidings; for that thy Lord will have given her inspiration. On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that, they (had done). Then shall anyone who has done an atom’s weight of good, see it! And anyone who has done an atom’s weight of evil, shall see it. ( Surah 99- Verse 1-8). When the sky is rent asunder, and hearkens to ( the command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so): and when the earth is flattened out, and casts forth what is within it and becomes ( clean) empty, and hearkens to ( the command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so): ( then will come home the full reality).
