Farooq Abdullah, Omar greet people on 455th Urs of Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA)

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party President, Member of Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Mr. Omar Abdullah on Sunday greeted people on the 455th annual Urs observance of Hazrat Sultan ul Arifeen Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA), hoping the day acts as harbinger of everlasting peace and prosperity in J&K, a statement issued here said.

Party President in his message said, “Hazrat Sultan Ul Arifeen (RA) rendered immense contribution towards protecting the fundamentals of Islam with his personal example and scholarly teachings. He had also attained highest stations in spirituality with his penance. Hazrat Makhdoom sahib (RA) was a living example of such virtues. On the auspicious occasion of Urs, I pray for return of healthier times and everlasting peace and prosperity in J&K,” he said.

Party vice president Omar Abdullah while greeting people said that the Kashmiri society is profoundly imbued with the teachings of such great men as Hazrat Sultan ul Arifeen. He stressed on universal brotherhood and amity and sought annihilation of self in the path of Allah. Urs like these give people a chance to rejuvenate their faith by learning about the life and works of such great men. I pass on good wishes and greetings to people on this day and pray for everlasting peace, prosperity, amity and tranquility in J&K,” he said.

Among others party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, AGS Dr Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Party MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone, Hasnain Masoodi, Shameema Firdous, Mubarak Gul, Irfan Shah, Muhammad Syed Akhoon, Peer Afaq, YNC Provincial President Salman Ali Sagar, Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Ahsan Pardesi have also greeted people on the Urs observance.
