Playground to be developed in each Panchayat: Sarmad

Samba: Sports activities, distribution of sports kits, awards & certificates, awareness camps regarding physical activities marked the last day of Back to village -3 in district samba.

Secretary to department of youth services and sports and tourism, Sarmad Hafeez, inaugurated sports events including boys’ volleyball and girls’ kho-kho matches, here at High School Chajjwal Panchayat.

The boys’ volleyball match was played between Government High School Sujjwan club and Chajjwal volley ball club. Sujwan club won the match by 2-0.  The game skill of Preeth Pal Singh, Rohit Kundal, Ajay Kumar, Pushvainder Singh, Sahil Kundal and others won the heart of the spectators.

In girls’ kho-kho match, Chajjwal club was trounced by Sunjwan club  with notable performance by Vishali Verma, Sanjana Devi, Harpreet Kour and others.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that Panchayats have been empowered by providing them funds for exclusive sports promotional activities. He said that a playground is to be developed in each Panchayat for outdoor sports in addition to indoor stadium facility. ‘12 new turfs of hockey badminton, basketball etc are sanctioned for Samba district and very soon all will be functional’, he added.  He said objective of promoting sports at gram level is to nurture the raw talent for progressive professional career growth along with keeping away the youth from menace of drugs abuse in the rural areas.

Sarmad Hafeez appreciated the efforts of district administration Samba for taking up a forefront role in carrying out back to village program and holding expansive sports activities across the district.

Meanwhile, public-officer interaction, Mahila, Bal and Gram sabhas, inauguration of new development work including renovated ponds, launch of work for developing new playfields and construction of lane drains were witnessed in the district.
