Srinagar Police arrests 4 drug peddlers, contraband substances recovered

Srinagar: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Srinagar have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police statement issued here on Thursday said “officers at a checkpoint established at Honda lane Rajbagh intercepted two persons identified as Faisal Ahmad Dar resident of Rambagh and Suhaib Ahmad Dar resident of Mehjornagar”, adding that “during checking, officers were able to recover 11 bottles of codeine phosphate from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Rajbagh where they remain in custody”.
Police in it’s statement also said that Case FIR No. 64/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Rajbagh and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, officers at a check point established at New By-Pass near peaks automobiles intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK01K-7676 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Sammer Ahmad Dar resident of Soiteng and Shakeel Ahmad Dar resident of Vethpora Soitang.
“During checking officers were able to recover Charas wrapped in corn leaves from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Nowgam where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”.
A case FIR No. 139/2020 under relevant sections of law, according to the police statement, has been registered in Police Station Nowgam and investigation has been initiated.
Police in it’s statement has appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but has warned that people indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the people that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”, reads the statement.
