Bandipora: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Bandipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered Contraband substances from his possession.
A police statement issued here on Thursday said “officers at a checkpoint established at Ganastan crossing intercepted one person identified as Mohd Yaqoob Beigh resident of Ganastan, adding that “during checking, officers were able to recover 14kgs of Bhang like substance and 110gms of Charas powder from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Sumbal where he remains in custody”.
A case under relevant sections of law, according to the police statement, has been registered in Sumbal and investigation has been initiated.
Police has appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that pople found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Police in it’s statement also said “our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”.
