Awantipora: Police in Awantipora arrested a bootlegger and recovered 16 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said “ Officers at a checkpoint established at Awantipora Chowk intercepted an individual identified as Ishtiyaq Mahmood resident of Chersoo Awantipora”, adding that “during search, officers were able to recover 16 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where he remains in custody”.
A case FIR No. 143/2020 under relevant sections of law , according to the police statement, has been registered in PS Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
Police in it’s statement has also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood and warned that people indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
