SMC inspects food establishments, hotels, restaurants, saloons, bakery shops, mutton and poultry shops

Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation Tuesday conducted inspection of various food establishments, Hotels, Restaurants, saloons , bakery shops, mutton and poultry shops. The team headed by Health Officer SMC Qazi Javaid visited various areas including Karan Nagar, Kaaksarai, Safa Kadal, Eidgah, Soura , Lalbazar, Mill stop, Hazratbal and adjoining areas to check hygiene of Food establishments and other outlet.
Health Officer was accompanied by anti Polythene squad SMC ,officials from food and drug department, legal Metrology department and Food civil supplies and consumer affairs department and other officials of SMC. During inspection food handlers were directed to wear proper head gears and hand gloves and follow other necessary precautionary measures while handling food. Qazi stressed upon shopkeepers to be committed towards cleanliness and do away with the littering on roads. He also stressed on shopkeepers to discontinue practice of using polythene bags. Huge quantity of Polythene Was confiscated and fines imposed on spot also for not maintaining proper hygiene. Accordingly food and drug control department, legal metrology, food and civil supplies department also fined owners of business establishments..
