2 militants killed during gunfight in Shopian district’s Sugan villages, mobile internet services shut in the district

Srinagar/Oct, 7:Two militants were killed in a night long gunfight that started on Tuesday in the late evening hours after a joint party of police, army’s 44 RR battalion took out a cordon and search operation on specific information about presence of militants in Sugan village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Confirming the killing of two militants in the gunfight the Kashmir Zone Police on it twitter handle wrote “#Encounter has started at #Sugan area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow”.
Police officials said that militants were repeatedly asked to surrender,but, they refused to do so and fired upon forces which was retaliated resulted in killing of two militants.

Earlier an official said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint teams of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure internet services have been snapped in district Shopian
