Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation on Friday organised an event of Swactha Pledge ceremony on Gandhi Jayanti.The event was organised at SMC central office here at Karan Nagar.The event was presided by Acting Mayor Parvez Ahmed Qadri ..
The Corporators including Lateef Mir, senior officers of Corporation including Secretary SMC Sofi Akbar, Health Officer SMC Qazi Javaid, Chief Sanitation officer Mudasir Banday , Chief Transport Officer Ghulam Rasool Dar and other officers participated in the event.All the officers jointly took Swachta Pledge to keep city clean in presence of Mr Qadri .
Later Acting Mayor along with officers conducted market checking in Lal chowk, Karan Nagar, Jahangir Chowk, Batamaloo, Poloview, Maharaj Bazaar , Goni Khan , khanyar , Khayam to check hygiene of Food establishments and stressed upon shopkeepers to be committed towards cleanliness and to do away with the littering on roads and follow necessary COVID-19 SOP’s as well as guidelines of the Government.He further urged shopkeepers to co-operate with the SMC field staff for up keeping of Sanitation in the Srinagar City.
Speaking on the occasion Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali said that SMC has a major responsibility towards keeping city neat and clean and we shall take every possible step to clean up the environment. But this is not possible without the cooperation and contribution of the society to achieve goal of cleaner city.“We should not litter our city or the surroundings and neither should we allow any one else to litter around said Gazanfar Ali”. Our elders, youngsters and children should be educated and awareness programs be organised constantly regarding the significance of health and hygiene at community level, in neighbourhood, schools , colleges and universities as well.
