Bandipore: Indian System of Medicines (ISM) Bandipora on Wednesday organised a daylong seminar as part of Poshan Maah campaign celebrated during the month of September, 2020.
Dr Altaf Hussain Zonal Medical Officer Hajin was the chief guest on the occasion while doctors, Asha workers, ICDS Supervisors, and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
During the seminar experts delibrated upon the importance of balanced diet for the children to overcome the malnutrition issue among them. Experts said the activities shall focus on broad themes including antenatal care, optimal breastfeeding (early and exclusive), complementary feeding, anaemia, growth monitoring, girls’ – education, diet, right age of marriage, hygiene and sanitation, eating healthy – food fortification. During the day long seminar experts made audience aware about the different aspects of the Abhiyan.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Altaf said poshan Abhiyan or National Nutrition Mission, is Government of India’s flagship program to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. He said the Abhiyaan directs the attention of the people towards the problem of malnutrition and addresses it in a mission-mode.
He stressed on providing quality nutrition to the children and directed the officers to ensure that a balanced diet is provided to the children in Anganwari centres.
On the occasion, immune booster medicines, de-worm and iron therapy for children were also provided to the participants.
