Chairman KVIC launches several activities across India, e-inaugurates training progs in JK

Srinagar: To commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Vinai Kumar Saxena, Thursday e-inaugurated training program at Safapora village, Ganderbal PMTC, Pampore and Dodbugh village, Baramulla besides launching a multitude of activities across the country.
Pertinently, KVIC Union Ministry of MSME, as a part of its objective to provide employment to youth, has started a campaign to empower youth through training in various trades. In this connection, Production cum Training Centre (PMTC), KVIC, Pampore has already started training in 11 disciplines at various places in Kashmir region. This training is being provided in Willow Work, Crewel Embroidery, Weaving of Shawls and Tweed, Sozni Embroidery besides Cutting and Tailoring in various villages of different districts of the region.
State Director, KVIC, Jammu & Kashmir, S.P. Khandelwal, informed that KVIC will help these trained beneficiaries to avail loans under PMEGP scheme for self employment. He informed that 100 Electric Potter Wheels will be distributed among the trained Potters at Palhalan, Baramulla besides training will be provided to 50 potters on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti tomorrow.
Principal, PMTC, Pampore, Anil Kumar Sharma, stated that all the trades in which the training has started are tradition to the Kashmir region and will help in reviving the traditional arts and will create employment opportunities for rural unemployed youths.
