Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar on Tuesday impressed upon the Divisional administration Kashmir to ensure round the clock facilities to devotees during the annual Urs celebration of Sultan Ul Arifeen Hazrat Sheikh Hamzah Maqdoom (RA). The thirteen day long Urs observance will culminate on 24 Safar Ul Murajab.
Sagar said the shrine of Hazrat Maqdoom Sahib is an epicenter of faith and people from all walks of life who visit the shrine throughout the year. During the Urs observance days, he said the number of people visiting the shrine for paying obeisance increases manifold. It is therefore imperative for the government to ensure that there is no dearth of facilities to devotees thronging the shrine during the ongoing Urs Observance. “Different wings of civil administration should strike liaison with each other to ensure round the clock water and power supply; transport and foolproof security arrangements in and around the shrine. The SMC should also swing its men and machinery into action and maintain sanitation in and around the Shrine. People on their part are also expected to abide by COVID-19 protocol, and other required health advisories to ensure their wellbeing. Civil administration should also take steps to ensure availability of public transport on all routes leading to the Shrine. The place holds a special place in the hearts of people; therefore it is the duty of the divisional administration including law enforcement agencies to ensure hassle free Urs. I pray to Almighty to salvage humanity from the prevailing pandemic situation. May the Urs act as harbinger of peace and prosperity in the region,” he said. He also urged the divisional administration to ensure all facilities to devotees at Tujar Sharief, Aham Sharief and other shrines across the valley associated with Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Maqdoomi (RA)
