Every step taken to bring back misguided youth, appeal people not to provide shelter to militants: DGP

Srinagar: Director General Police Dilbag Singh on Monday said that with the active cooperation of parents 24 youth have been brought back from militant ranks this year.
Addressing a press conference at district police lines (DPL) Awantipora the DGP made these remark in presence of IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar. The DGP also the interacted with the officers of Police, CRPF & Army and appreciated the forces for successful joint operation in which two militants including longest surviving Ajaz Reshi was killed. The DGP also inspected under construction DPO building and stressed for early completion of the building.

Flanked by GoC Victor Force Rashim Bali, IGP, Kashmir Vijay Kumar and SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem Khan the DGP said that killing Ajaz Reshi and his close aide is a big success for the forces as Ajaz was the main recruiter for the Lashkar and had pushed a number of youths to the militant ranks. He complimented Police, 50-RR and CRPF 110 battalion for the successful clean operation.

The DGP said that every possible effort is being made to bring back the misguided youth and added that during this year about 24 youth have been brought back from the militant ranks with the active cooperation of their parents.

The DGP said that in Srinagar city grid is firmly in place. He said that this year seven successful operations have been carried out in the city. He said that militants groups are trying to find foothold in the city, but police and the forces are alive to the situation and that is unprecedented operations in which the city have been conducted, he said.

He appealed the people not to provide shelter to the militants as they are agents of destruction. He said that youth are not becoming militanys on their own but are being persuaded to join militancy.

The DGP said that the unfortunate incident of killing of Advocate Babar Qadri is being investigated at a very fast pace with good progress so far adding that Police would be able to crack the case very soon. He said that killing of civilian and political workers are being carried out to disturb peace .He said that investigation of Ameshipora encounter under the supervision of SP Shopian is also being carried out in a speedy and fair manner.
