Bandipora Police arrests drug peddler, psychotropic substances recovered

Srinagar: Police in Bandipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
A police statement issued here on Saturday said that officers at a checkpoint established at Chewa Ajas intercepted one person identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Malpora SK Bala Sumbal, adding that during checking, officers recovered 24 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession. “ The person wa arrested and shifted to PS Sumbal where he remains in custody”, reads the statement.
Police statement says that a case FIR No.144/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation has been initiated.
Police has appealed to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, warning that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”, the police said in the statement.
