NM Volleyball Championship-2020 concludes in B’pora

Bandipora: Nadim Memorial Volleyball Championship-2020 concluded here, with Aragam Volleyball team winning the title. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir who was also Chief Guest on the occasion distributed prizes among the winners.
The tournament was played on a double knockout basis. In the nail biting finish Aragam won the title by defeating Saderkoot Bala by 3-0. Sajid Pathan was declared Man of the Match for his outstanding performance. In-charge Sports Activities, Youth Services and Sports, Peerzada Khurshid Ahmad Shah said 16 teams from various villages of the district participated in the said championship in all age categories.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC said that the youngsters of Bandipora have showcased an exceptional performance in different activities and received recognition at national and international level. He said the district administration has taken up the task to provide better sports infrastructure at village level so that the youth are able to polish their skills to perform better in competitions. Mir said during the two phases of Back to Village program and the ongoing Jan Abhiyan campaign, the district administration took up the task to construct playfields in each Panchayat under MGNREGA and 14th FC so that local youth are provided a space to spend their leisure time in productive work. Among others, Deputy Superintendent of Police, SHO Bandipora, and Company Commander Bandipora Camp was present on the occasion.
