Srinagar: The inspection team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Tuesday slapped a fine of Rs. 01 lac on an importer of Computer Accessories Company for not carrying mandatory declaration like MRP, Name of Importer, Month and year of import etc.
The LMD in a statement said during a routine inspection of reputed computer show-room in Srinagar city, the Legal Metrology Department seized a number of accessories like Hard-drive, toner, RAM’S, Pen-drive, VGA cables for not carrying mandatory declarations as is required to be printed on the label of the imported packs as per Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.
The Legal Notices were issued to all the offending firms (Importers) and one of the importers of computer accessories confessed its lapse and pleaded for compounding the offence departmentally and were therefore slapped with a compounding fee for the offence.
Meanwhile, the consumers are informed to check all the mandatory declarations on the imported products. In case of any complaint, the office may be contacted on the Phone No. 0194-2490390 during office hours.
