Introduction of new subjects at +2 levels: Samoon reviews action taken report at Sub-Committee meeting

Srinagar: Principal Secretary, School Education and Skill Development, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Tuesday chaired a meeting of Sub-Committee constituted by the government for introduction of new subjects at Higher Secondary +2 level in Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr Samoon reviewed the action taken on the previous decisions and outlined the objective of having new subjects for the crucial school years. He said  that the department is continuously receiving representations for introduction of more subject at +2 level like  Tourism, Mass   Communication, Philosophy, Public Administration, Physical Education,  Food Science, Information Technology,  Electronic, Psychology, Applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Music, Geology, Computer science, Statistics and ECCE.

The meeting decided that the Directors of School Education Kashmir/Jammu will constitute a committee at the provincial level to rationalize deployment of faculty (subject-wise) keeping in view student enrolment (stream-wise).

It was also decided that the Secretary State Board of School Education will examine and give a proposal to incorporate a unit on the History and Culture for Kashmir and Jammu in the contents of Social Science subject taught in Class 11th & 12th . The meeting also decided that the Director School Education Kashmir/Jammu will identify Higher Secondary Schools, preferably in districts of Srinagar/Jammu for designation as Schools where full fledge Commerce Stream will be taught.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary, School Education Department, Nissar Ahmed Wani; others concerned officers while Secretary JKBOSE; Director School Education, Kashmir; Director School Education Jammu; Deputy Director Planning ; Joint Director P&S ; Principal, Govt S P Higher Secondary School Srinagar and Principal Govt Higher Secondary Rajpura, Samba  participated in the meeting through Video Conferencing.

Later, Dr Samoon also conducted a meeting with the Head of Skill Training Centres regarding imparting Skilling under PMKVY scheme (CSCM & CSSM) in the Jammu & Kashmir of Jammu and Kashmir through a webinar.
