DC G’bal flags off “Fit India Freedom Run”

G’bal: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal in presence of SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal Saturday flagged off “Fit India Freedom Run” under the aegis of Fit India Movement at Madre Meharban Stadium Ganderbal.
The event was organized by the department of Youth Services & Sports, District Ganderbal in which over 170 departmental officials participated.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner was Chief Guest and SSP Ganderbal was Guest of Honor.
Speaking on the occasion the DC said that main aim of organizing such events is to engage youth in sports activities to keep them physically and mentally fit.
DC also highlighted the initiatives taken by district Administration to give flip to sports activities in the district and said that besides sports grounds, Sports equipment will also be procured in all Panchayats of the district for which Rs. 20,000 is earmarked for each panchayat.
While appreciating the Department for organizing such programs, the DC urged the District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Ganderbal for conducting more such programs in future in which local masses shall be encouraged for participation to get relief from mental stress which is caused due to COVID pandemic.
SSP Ganderbal also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of physical and mental fitness in the development of healthy society.
