Srinagar: Police in Srinagar on Wednesday arrested two bootleggers and recovered 26 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.
“Officers at a checkpoint near Rambagh chowk intercepted an Auto bearing registration number JK0IP-8055 trying to evade the naka party. The said auto was chased and stopped by the alert police party. During search officers were able to recovered 26 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession” said a statement issued by police on Wednesday.
The police in it’s statement further said that the accused have been identified as Firdous Ahmad Kuchay son of Abdul Rashid Kuchay and Bashir Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh both residents of Humhama Budgam. It also said that they have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Saddar where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 232/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Sadder. Both the bootleggers have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Sadder where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s statement has appealed people to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
