Hakeem condemns assault on journalists in Kakapora Pulwama

Srinagar: Chairman People’s Democratic Front ( PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Wednesday strongly condemned thrashing of two photojournalists by the police while they were covering a gunfight between militants and security forces at a village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama on Tuesday this week.
In a statement issued on Wednesday Hakeem while condemning the incident of assault on the journalists, has urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take strong action against the guilty cops . He said police and security forces should be sensitised to deal property with the journalists so that they can discharge their professional duties without any fear and difficulty. Hakeem said it was unfortunate that incidents like thrashing and assault on journalists have been occurring repeatedly in Jammu and Kashmir particularly in kashmir valley to stop them from reporting various types of law and order situations freely.
PDF Chairman said journalism is the fourth pillar of democracy and the government was duty bound to provide due security to the journalists to ensure that they discharge their professional duties without any hindrances.
