Srinagar: Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry and President of J&K Rowing and Sculling Association (JKRSA) Navin K Choudhary visited the Water Sports Centre Nehru Park and interacted with players here Tuesday.
On the occasion, Navin K Choudhary was received at the Centre by International Water sports coach Bilquis Mir and other noted players of the J&K.
The Principal Secretary interacted with the players and reviewed the ongoing works at the Water Sports Centre, which is at the final stages of completion. He also inspected the recently procured equipment by J&K Government for the development of water sports in the UT.
“J&K players have made a name at National level despite lack of top level facilities. Now you will be getting International standard facility and that should result in International success,” Navin Choudhary said while interacting with players.
He observed that J&K is most likely the only place in the country to have acquired latest International standard water sports equipment. It is also the only place in country which is building multiple International standard facilities across its length and breadth.
“You have now got best equipment and facility available round the clock. I am sure we will be able to perform very well in Asian and Olympic Games soon,” he further said.
“We are thankful to our Association President Navin K Choudhary for bringing an encouraging change in water sports in such a short span of time. He has completely changed complexion of our sports by bringing in latest equipment and top level facilities. Apart from Government support to develop water sports, he has also generated equipment for Association through private sponsorships,” said International Canoe player Adil.
“Last year we had no hope of competing in National event amid lockdown. With the personal intervention of Navin Choudhary we were able to reach venue by air. With all facilities available now we have no excuse to fall short in any competition,” said another player Villayat.
