Srinagar: An extraordinary meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum was held here under the chairmanship of Abdul Qayoom Wani. The meeting was attended by all central and provincial officials. All the members of the Forum threw light on the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The Forum expressed concern over the rampant misdeeds in the society like drug abuse, bribery, alcohol policy, restrictions on expression, linguistic bias and resource and cultural exploitation. It was decided at the meeting that JKCSF would also raise voice against oppression, social, political, cultural, linguistic prejudice and cultural exploitation at all levels.
Forum Chairman Wani said “The new liquor policy was totally rejected in the meeting and it has been resolved that alcohol will not be accepted in Kashmir, the land of saints.”
The meeting expressed regret over the recent incident at Srinagar Airport and appealed to all parents to keep a close eye on their children so that they may not be involved in drug abuse and other social evils.
