Deputations of TV, Drama, Media professionals call on Advisor Khan; submit memorandum of demands

SRINAGAR: Several deputations representing various Television, Drama and Media professionals’ associations today called on Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, here today.

The delegations were led by renowned artists, singers and journalists of the associations which put forth their demands and issues related to their work before the Advisor.

A deputation of Kashmir Journalists Association submitted its memorandum of demands which included preference to Mass Communication & Journalism postgraduates in allotment of promotional films on development, awareness and promotional schemes of various government departments. The association also sought implementation of labour laws for the Media sector besides filling vacant posts of Department of Information & Public Relations on fast track basis.

Another deputation of Television Professionals United Forum led by renowned TV artists Zameer Ashai and GM Wani raised the issue of revival and restoration of drama and music production in Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar/Jammu besides other cultural activities.

The J & K Theatre Movement led by Manzoor Ahmed Mir requested for intervention of Advisor Khan in addressing the grievance of the theatre fraternity of J&K.

Likewise, a deputation of Doordarshan Artists Welfare Association led by Zahoor Zaidi projected several issues seeking intervention of the government in redressing the same.

Another deputation of Kashmir Music Club led by renowned singer and music composer Waheed Jeelani raised and discussed the issues being faced by the singer and music fraternity of Kashmir valley.

Similarly, a deputation of Doordarshan & Radio Performing Artists and Freelance Producers & Directors Association led by famous TV artist Tariq Javid called on the Advisor and discussed various issues related to their professional works of the artists, producers and directors alike.

A deputation of Kashmir Glowkar Society led by Gulzar Ahmed Ganie also took up various issues concerning the society with the Advisor.

A deputation of Kashmir Broadcast Equipment Holders Association led by Rayees A Mir raised the issue of allotment of post production work to the professionals.

A deputation of Youth Media Federation led by Javid A Khan demanded a special package for revival of DD Kashir’s software on themes of entertainment, culture and heritage besides other issues.
