Srinagar: Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Srinagar, Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
“Officers at a checkpoint established near Power Grid Habbak Naseem Bagh intercepted a scooty driven by an individual identified as Feroz Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Sidiq Mir resident of Mir Mohalla Soura. During checking, officers were able to recover 43 bottles of Codeine phosphate from his possession”, reads a statement issued by police on Saturday, adding that “ he has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”.
The police statement further said that accordingly, case FIR No. 145/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Nigeen and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members have been asked to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood”, the statement reads further, adding that “persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law”.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community”, the statement reads.
