Kulgam: Kulgam police on Saturday said that it has solved a theft case and recovered stolen property worth lakhs from their possession.
A police statement issued on Saturday said that Police Station Yaripora received a written complaint where in it is stated that, on August 29,2020 some unknown burglars barged into the residential house of Maroofa Akhter resident of Kanjikulla Yaripora and took away cash and gold ornaments. “Accordingly, case FIR No. 119/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in police Station Yaripora and further investigation was initiated”, the statement reads.
Police in it’s statement further said that during the course of investigation, a team led by SHO Yaripora was constituted and strenuous efforts generated a credible information regarding the burglars and apprehended the suspects identified as Aquib Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Kanjikulla Yaripora Kulgam, Umer Yaqoob Naik son of Mohd Yaqoob Naik resident of Khaloora Kulgam. During investigation, the police statement said, it was learnt that they were involved in the commission of said crime.
“Officers investigating the case have identified one more accused namely Nafeez Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Ramzan Dar resident of Brazloo Jageer, who buys the stolen property from the said burglars”, the statement reads further adding that “stolen property including golden ornaments worth lakhs and cash amount of Rs 17,000 were also recovered from their possession”.
The police in it’s statement also said that all the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, adding that, further investigation of the case is in progress and more recoveries are expected. Police Kulgam assured the general public that every possible step will be taken to safeguard the life, property, and honour of its community members.
