Jammu: Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu is going to organize an Online Exhibition of Paintings of Gaytri, a painter from Hoshiarpur (Punjab), on 13th September, 2020. The exhibition has been dedicated to Late Chander Shiva, artist brother of Gaytri. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Ms. Chandana Khan, Retired IAS. Sh. Jang S. Verman, Senior Artist & columnist on art & culture, & Advisor, JKCCA, will be the Guest of Honour for the inaugural ceremony. Thirty ones paintings in water, oil and acrylics medium are being displayed in the exhibition.
O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA & Curator of the show, informed that the paintings to be displayed in the ehibition depict the themes related to life, day to day life situations, people, elements of Nature like trees, flora- n- fauna, vast landscapes, birds and other habitats etc. At times, semi- abstract art pieces depicting elements of spiritual powers and practices are also executed by her. Keeping in view the Covid- 19 Pandemic situation, the only option to carry on these activities is sharing these online. A post graduate of Painting discipline from Govt. College, Hoshiarpur, Gaytri has been active in the field of art. She has been regularly participating in national and international art exhibitions and camps at Amritsar, Jammu, Jalandhar, Patiala, Chandigarh, Ferozpur and other places. Presently, she is teaching art at Govt. College, Hoshiarpur (Punjab). She is one of the consultants appointed by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu. It may be stated here that JKCCA, established back in the year 1999, is integrating itself with the promotion and preservation of visual arts, literature and performing arts. It has organized many state, national and international art events.
