Become Job creators than Job Seekers: DIC Jammu hosts webinar for Polytechnic students

Jammu:  A webinar ‘Become Job Creators than Job Seekers’ aimed at awaring the fresh Polytechnic pass-outs with regard to the various schemes being implemented by Industries & Commerce Department- under Central & State packages was Thursday organized by the District Industries Centre, Jammu.

The participants were briefed about the self-employment schemes including Prime Minister Employment Generation Program [PMEGP].

The online event was organized on the directions of   Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Commissioner / Secretary Industries & Commerce, and Anoo Malhotra, Director Industries & Commerce, Jammu under the overall guidance of  Subah Mehta,  General Manager, District Industries Centre, Jammu in collaboration with the Government Polytechnic College, Jammu.

Er Arun Mangotra, Principal, Er Shoket Ali, Technical Coordinator and Er. Jasdep Kour of Govt Polytechnic College, Jammu also participated the session.

The students were made aware about how to become self reliant by generating employment for themselves and also become employment generators for others by availing benefits under the “Prime Minister Employment Generation Program”. The objective of the scheme is to generate continuous and sustainable employment opportunities in Rural and Urban areas for traditional and prospective artisans, rural and urban unemployed youths through setting up of Micro / Small Enterprises and also to facilitate participation. The subsidy under PMEGP Scheme ranges from 10-30% and loan upto 25 lacs. Under PMEGP-II, for substantial expansion, loan upto 1 Crore can be availed for existing PMEGP beneficiaries, the participants were told.

The participants were also made aware that they can undertake Micro projects under PMEGP like Gymnasium, Restaurants, Xerox Centres, Shuttering, Saloons, Wood Work, Atta Chakki and many more activities and those which come  under the purview of Manufacturing and service Sectors within the project limit of Rs. 25.00 lacs.

For starting own venture as Micro/Small Enterprises under the manufacturing / service sector, both in Rural & Urban Areas, the government provides various subsidies viz. 100% subsidy on DG set, 3% interest subsidy, 100% subsidy on laboratory / testing equipments, 60% subsidy on Pollution Control Devices etc. under State Package and 30% Capital Investment Subsidy on Plant & Machinery, 100% Insurance Subsidy, 3% Interest Subsidy, GST Reimbursement, Income Tax reimbursement etc. under IDS-2017 of Central Package.

The WEBINAR was attended by about 60 participants and during live session, queries and doubts were cleared to a great extent.

The success stories were also shared to motivate the students for coming forward to establish their own ventures & become successful entrepreneurs. They were also requested to feel free to visit DIC or mail the office at [email protected] or follow facebook page to get their doubts cleared.
