Srinagar: Days after a BUMS student from Chursoo of Awantipore in Pulwama district went missing, who later joined militant ranks, a BSC student from the same village went missing while as another youth also disappeared from the Pampore town of the district.
The duo seems to have joined militancy. However, official confirmation is awaited. Mohsin Amin Bhat son of Mohammed Amin Bhat, a resident of Chursoo, Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama is missing from last few days and now family is appealing him to return back.
Family sources said that Mohsin went missing on 29 August and since then there are no whereabouts of him. He said after failing to find Mohsin for three days, they lodged a missing report on September 1 at concerned police station but there is no luck so far.
Last year, family had said that the youth had passed class 12 examination and was presently BA first year (first semester) student at Islamia college, Hawal, Srinagar however, due to the Covid pandemic and lockdown, he used to stay home and would hardly venture out.
Bhat was never taking part in street protests and was never arrested before, the family said, adding that Mohsin’s parents, and two brothers are under tremendous stress and worried.
The family members appealed Mohsin to return as according to them his mother is a heart patient and his other brother is also ill.
“We request everyone, every organization and agency to kindly return him back as his mother and brother are very ill,” the family said.
Pertinently, four youth including a BUMS student from same village have joined militancy in last two months. Among them, one was killed and other was arrested during Shopian encounter last week.
Meanwhile, another youth namely Khawar Sultan son of Mohammad Sultan Mir resident of Drangbal, Pampore, has also gone missing on September 02.
His father Mohammad Sultan said Khawar was working as a labourer at a Poultry farm in Khrew-Shaar area of Pulwama and on September 02, he left home for Shaar but didn’t return.
“We called all relatives and his friends but failed to get any information about him, forcing us to lodge his missing report,” said Sultan.
He said that he is a truck driver and after passing his class 12th, he was working with him as a conductor, however after lockdown, he started working at a poultry farm.
His family members including his parents, grandmother, two brothers and sister have requested him to return back. A senior police official while confirming their missing report said that efforts are on to trace them
