Srinagar Police solves theft case, arrests 2 accused

Srinagar: Police in Srinagar solved a theft case by arresting two accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen vehicle.
A police statement issued on Monday said “ On 14th January 2016, Police Station Karan Nagar received a complaint from Mohammad Ashraf Najar son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Jamia Mohalla Pattan that his Alto Car bearing Registration No. JK05B-9180 has been stolen by some unknown persons from Parking slot SMHS Hospital premises”.
The statement also said that case FIR No. 04/2016 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Karan Nagar and investigation was set into motion.
:During the course of investigation, strenuous efforts were made but the said vehicle was not traced out, later the investigation of the case was closed as untraced on 03-12-2016” the statements reads, adding that “on 2nd September 2020, PS Karan Nagar received information with some clues that the said vehicle is roaming in Sirigufwara area of district Anantnag. Police said in it’s statement that the instant case was re-opened by SDPO Shaheed Gunj and Police Station Karan Nagar recovered the said Vehicle from Sirigufwara Anantnag from the possession of one Farooq Ahmad Wani son of Assadullah Wani resident of Katoo Bijbehara. “During questioning, accused person disclosed that he had purchased the said Alto vehicle from one Manzoor Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Qadir Ganie resident of Zirpara Bijbehara at Rs. 164000/- in year 2016”, the statement reads. Police said that on his disclosure, Police Karan Nagar arrested the main accused namely Manzoor Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Qadir Ganie resident of Zirpara Bijbehara, adding that, both the arrested accused persons have been shifted to Police Station Karan Nagar where they remain in custody. Further investigation of the case is going on and more recoveries are expected. Police has assured the people that it has resolved to act tough against individuals involved in criminal activities.
