Police arrests notorious drug peddler in Kulgam, recover 1.30 Kgs of cannabis and Rs 2.99lacs from his possession

Srinagar: Police on Monday arrested a notorious drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance & cash from his possession.
A police statement issued here on Monday said “ on specific information regarding drug peddling at Aadpora Kulgam, a police party led by SHO Kulgam raided a suspected spot (cowshed) and arrested a notorious drug peddler”, adding that “he has been identified as Mubarak Ahmad Wani resident of Rangrezpora Kulgam. The statement further said that during checking, officers were able to recover 1.30 kilograms of Cannabis powder and cash of Rs 2,99,200/- (Two lakh Ninety-nine thousand and two hundred) from his possession. He has been shifted to PS Kulgam where he remains in custody.
“Accordingly, a case FIR No. 166/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation into the matter has been initiated” the statement reads.
Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law saying that “our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”.
