Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) on Saturday has urged for immediate release of all political detenues including former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, to initiate a meaningful political process in Jammu and Kashmir. The party has also stressed the need for establishment of a civilian government to address the socio-political political aspirations of the people.
A political resolution to this effect was unanimously passed at one day convention of PDP workers of Block Sukhnag, Khansahib in Central kashmir on Saturday. The convention was presided by Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) .
A threadbare discussion was held at the convention on the prevailing socio-political scenario in jammu and kashmir and to evolve an appropriate strategy to meet the emerging political situation.
It was impressed upon the Center to sanction a comprehensive financial package to revive the shattered economy of Jammu and Kashmir due to continuous government clampdown post August 5 last year and the ongoing lockdown due to Coronavirus pandemic. The Center was also urged to announce a big employment package for unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Hakeem urged the Center to release all political detenues including Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, immediately to pave way for a meaningful political process and establishment of a democratically elected civilian government in Jammu and Kashmir. Expressing serious concern over the miserable plight of business community due to clossal economic losses, Hakeem urged the Center to sanction a comprehensive financial package for the worst hit people associated with transport, tourism and horticulture sectors to bail them out of the prevailing economic distress.
Hakeem made it crystal clear that people of Jammu and Kashmir want thier lost identify and special status get back at all costs , that has been guaranteed to them under the Constitution of India at the time of accession of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union.
It was impressed upon the Center to waive off kisaan credit card loans of farmers and interest waiver scheme for hoteliers, sumo and Matador owners and fruit traders in view of devastating losses suffered by the people associated with these sectors of economy.
Expressing concern over the prevailing developmental inertia in Jammu and Kashmir, Hakeem Yaseen urged the LG administration to fast track completion of languishing projects on warfooting basis. He stresses for developing a tourist circuit in Doodhpathri and Tossamaidan to exploit tourism potential of the area optimally. He also demanded execution of work on Government approved Mini Hydle Power Projects at Sukhnag Arizaal and Shaliganga . These power projects would go a long way to overcome local power requirements besides providing employment the the youth.
It was reiterated at the Convention that PDF will continue its struggle to get back all the constitutional rights and guarantees of the people of Jammu and Kashmir which were taken away illegally from time to time especially post August 5 last year .It was impressed upon the Central leadership to honour and respect the socio-political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It was observed in the Convention that constitutional changes effected by the Central government unilaterally in August last year has not only stripped Jammu & Kashmir of its special status and identity but also snatched exclusive rights of its permanent residents over jobs and their domicile rights .
