DGP sanctions financial relief of Rs.6.95 lakh to COVID-19 affected Police Personnel

Srinagar: Police Personnel alongwith other COVID warriors have been on forefront of fight against the Coronavirus Pandemic. Many police officers, personnel have contracted this disease. To provide assistance to such personnel, Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rupees 6.95 lakh relief in favour of 139 Police Personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police as a welfare measure vide three different orders issued by Police Headquarters.

Under these orders Rupees five thousand each has been sanctioned in favour of 139 COVID-19 affected police personnel. Among them 62 are from DPO Budgam, 18 from Railways Kashmir, 15 from IRP 19th Bn, 10 from IRP 10th Bn., 6 from SSG J&K, three each from DPO Awantipora, JKAP 7th Bn., two each from DPO Ganderbal, DPO Srinagar, DPO Kathua, DPO Anantnag, DPO Baramulla, Railways Jammu, PHQ, one each from DPO Kulgam, STC Talwara, Traffic Rural Kashmir, DPO Jammu, JKAP 11th Bn., SSP Security Kashmir, SSP Security J&K and Technical Headquarter J&K.

Soon after the outbreak of COVID-19, Police Headquarters issued a circular wherein it has been enjoined that all DDOs shall ensure to extend financial assistance as a welfare measure for such personnel in shape of Welfare Relief depending on the virus load, as also welfare loan (refundable) of Rupees one lakh can be availed by the COVID Positive on willingness to be provided by the Police Headquarters on specific recommendation of the DDOs.

Pertinent to mention here that from June this year Rs.13.35 lakh financial assistance has been sanctioned in favour of 267 officers / Police Personnel who contracted the coronavirus infection.
