Srinagar: Continuing its drive against drug dealings Police have arrested six drug peddlers across the districts of Kashmir and recovered contraband substances and cash from their possession.
Acting on specific inputs, officers at checkpoints established at Rasripora and Badrah villages intercepted five individuals. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar resident of Badrah Payeen, Feroz Ahmad Pandith & Asif Manzoor Mir both residents of Langate, Riyaz Ahmad Lone resident of Badra Payeen and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Maratgam Langate. During checking, officers were able to recover 100 gms of Brown Sugar and cash of an amount Rs 2.65 lacs from their possession.
Accordingly, cases vide FIR Nos. 84/2020 & 85/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Kralgund and further investigation into the case has been initiated.
Meanwhile in Srinagar, Police Station Shaheed Gunj received a written complaint from Dy. Drug Controller, Drugs & Food Control Organization Kashmir about seizure of 2000 bottles of apparently Codeine phosphate from one drug peddler in Chota Bazar area of Srinagar.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 109/2020 was registered in PS Shaheed Gunj and the said drug peddler was arrested. He was shifted to police station where he remains in custody. He has been identified as Adil Farooq Rah son of Farooq Ahmad Rah resident of Baghwanpora Barbarshah.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community.
