Jammu: Asserting that there is no question of compromising with the interests of Jammu region, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana Friday said that it is matter of faith for the National Conference to work for satiating the urges and aspirations of all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir and their sub regions with equal opportunities of progress and development.
“Attempts of undermining the Jammu interest will face stiff resistance and there is no question of compromising with it, come what may”, Rana said during his interactions with several delegations here, which called on him all the day, adding that sidelining Jammu means insulting the self-respecting people, who have always been big hearted despite being marginalized in every sphere by the self-styled champions of this region.
Rana said the National Conference has and will continue to raise the issues pertaining to Jammu region at every forum.
“We are the inheritors of the political philosophy of unity in diversity and single entity of J&K”, he said, adding that this bonding cannot be disturbed by the myopic political agenda of those against the spirit of inclusiveness.
“The party’s regional autonomy concept, documented over two and a half decades ago is reflective of the distinct aspirations of the regions as per their ethos, culture and requirement according to needs of the time,
He said equal opportunities of progress and development is imperative for the harmonious growth of Jammu and Kashmir and that is what the National Conference has strived during various spells of governance since 1975. Name any milestone and mega project conceived and executed for the Jammu region, it owes its connect with the party, which has kept the public interest over and above anything else. He said the unblemished record of public service is the reason for the party’s visibility and existence from Lakhanpur to Uri and Poonch to Chishul. It is a cadre based party of the people, for the people and by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of region, religion, caste or colour, he added.
While the National Conference can take satisfaction and pride for what it has delivered to the people of Jammu, it notes with pain and anguish the treatment meted out to Duggarland by the self-styled Messiahs between 2015 and 2019. The nightmarish era witnessed the region getting neglected in respect of development, implementation of welfare schemes and even the employment. The people who got overwhelming mandate willingly became perpetrators of denial and deprivation of the Jammu region, thus exposing the role of exploiters and tormentors. The solid developmental base laid over the years got fractured due to administrative naivety and vested interest of those at the helm, he said, adding that Jammu is still struggling to come to terms on the traumatic abuse to its psyche.
