Srinagar: Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Sopore, Police have arrested four notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Hathlangoo intercepted four individuals. They have been identified as Naseer Ahmad Dar and Abdul Hamid Lone both residents of Hathlangoo, Jahangir Ahmad Malla and Khurshid Ahmad Dar both residents of Muqam Shaheedmir. During checking, officers were able to recover 300 grams of charas and 15 bottles of codeine phosphate from their possession. Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused persons were involved in selling of psychotropic/contraband drugs among the youth of Warpora and its adjoining areas.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 240/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Sopore and further investigation into the case has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community.
