Pakistani wives protest in Srinagar, appeals for dignified rehabilitation

Srinagar: Pakistani wives of former Kashmiri militants on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest in Srinagar and urged Central and UT Governments to take concrete steps for their dignified rehabilitation in Kashmir.
The protesting wives of former Kashmir militants expressed disappointment over non-fulfilment of promises made by Central and UT Governments. They said the GoI first allowed us to enter into Valley along with their Kashmiri husbands but later on ‘harassed’ and deprived them from all fundamental and democratic rights in Kashmir.
“We are in acute mental stress as we are unable to meet our families who are in Pakistan. Government is paying deaf ear to our repeated pleas and depriving us from all rights”, a lady protestor told media.
She urged both Central and UT Governments to provide them required travel documents so that they can visit to their families who are away from us from several years.
Notably hundreds of Kashmir youth who had gone Pakistan for armed training, married Pakistani women among several turned back to Valley via Nepal border along with their families.
Protesting women alleged that they are getting insane treatment in Kashmir and appealed to give us absolute rights or deport us back to Pakistan. “Either give us all due rights or deport us to Pakistan. We are also human beings and want to live a dignified life”, the protesting women said.
