Awantipora Police arrests a drug peddler, contraband substance recovered

Awantipora: Police in a timely action against drug dealings in Awantipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established near Ladermud crossing of Awantipora intercepted one person identified as Aqeel Ahmad Ansari resident of Barkhan, Nawab Gung Bareli U.P. During search officers were able to recover 250 grams of Heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station Awantipora, where he remains in custody. Accordingly, case FIR No. 118/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated. Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused person is involved in transportation/selling of psychotropic drugs among the youth in Awantipora area. Community members have been urged o come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police have resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers, Saying that it’s consistent actions against drug peddlers are part of an action reassure the community members that police is making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
