Srinagar: Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Srinagar & Kulgam, Police have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of psychotropic substance from their possession.
In Srinagar, Officers at a checkpoint near Bus stand Parimpora intercepted an Auto load carrier with one person on board. He has been identified as Adnaan Nabi resident of Nundreshi Colony Bemina Srinagar.
During checking, officers were able to recover 39 cases (4680 Codine phosphate bottles) of banned drug from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. Pertinently, the accused is a chronic drug peddler and operates in Srinagar city.
Case FIR No. 176/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Parimpora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Similarly in Kulgam, Officers at a checkpoint established near Kulgam Stadium intercepted two persons identified as Danish Ahmad Ahanger resident of Reshipora Kulgam and Aadil Ahmad Ganai resident of Ganai Mohalla Kulgam. During checking, officers were able to recover contraband substance from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kulgam where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 155/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
