Senior Pharmacist lost battle against COVID-19 in Anantnag

Anantnag: Another frontline warrior senior pharmacist in the Health department Bashir Ahmad Magray lost battle against COVID-19 pandemic on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and several religious and social organizations have condoled the demise of Magray and said he dedicated his entire life to the service of the humanity.

According to reports Magray, who was working as sernior Pharmacist in the health department had tested coronavirus positive recently.

He was admitted to hospital where he lost the battle this morning. Large number of people who had come to mourn his demise said Magray died a heroes death.

A PDP spokesman expressing grief over the demise of Magray said he dedicated his entire life to service of the humanity. “Magray sacrificed his own comfort and risked his life by serving people of Aishmuqam and adjoining areas in Anantnag,” the PDP said.

“We pay glowing tributes toMagray and also pray for speedy recovery of his  family who too have tested positive,” he added.

Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Sunday held an e-meeting to express condolences with the family of Mr Magray. “The meeting was attended by all central members of the association where it demanded adequate safety measures for the health care workers across J&K,” a DAK spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, DAK President Dr Suhail Naik expressed condolence with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul. “The deceased employee was working in health department and posted at SDH Seer. He was actively involved in COVID related duties. He is a true martyr indeed,” Dr Naik said.

All the members of DAK took serious note of health care workers including doctors and paramedics increasing getting infected with the novel coronavirus.

 

General Secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar said that health care workers who are working in non-Covid sections of various hospitals are more prone to getting infected with as adequate protective measures are not taken in such areas.

 

“A lot of cases of B/L pneumonia are seen in non-Covid OPDs and Casualty sections across Kashmir whose COVID test comes negative but have classical clinical and radiological evidence suggestive of COVID pneumonia,” said Dar, a consultant Radiologist

 

The DAK stressed the government to come up with an order whereby all cases of respiratory illnesses who have typical clinical-radiological evidence suggestive of Covid be isolated from non-respiratory patients. “This will help in preventing the spread of disease,” it said.

 

Moreover, DAK requested Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department to provide adequate personal protection equipment to all health care workers whether they are working in COVID or non-COVID areas.
