Satya Pal Malik: Downgraded himself after downgrading JK status

Former Jammu & Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik a man who played central role in downgrading the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state into two union territories and as well it’s special status has been virtually downgraded himself for the second time in a row as  he has been moved to Meghalya a smaller state even than Goa where he held the office of governor from Octobe last year till now for about ten months only . Though Malik might have expected a reward for recommending the downgrading of the Jammu & Kashmir’s state into two union territories and it’s special status but the Narendra Modi headed BJP led NDA Government at the centre downgraded his position to the governor of a more smaller and politically insignificant state like Goa. Malik who remained in news off and on over his controversial political statements on mainstream politics in Jammu & Kashmir even after his shifting to Goa has been now moved to a more smaller state than Goa called Meghalya. Imagine the man who used to deliver sermons on the future of Kashmir’s mainstream leaders has come down from the position of Governor of Bihar one of the most populous states of the country to the post of Governor a tiny state called Meghalya.  Obviously he has been punished for courting controversies over mainstream politics in Jammu & Kashmir which has dominated the national politics of the country since August 5 last year when the erstwhile state was downgraded into two union territories and special status to it was withdrawn.

Courting a controversy over the fax machine working on the day of receiving two letters from two alliance leaders for formation of a government in Jammu & Kashmir the former J&K Governor Malik had said that if he would have invited Sajad Lone for the formation of a government in alliance with BJP, his named would be mentioned as the most dishonest politician in the  political history of Jammu & Kashmir. Shockingly his mention in the history of Jammu & Kashmir for recommending the downgrading of the erstwhile state into two union territories and it’s special status would obviously go against the benchmarks of both truthfulness and as well political honesty.

Interestingly the top National Conference leader and former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah after his release from several months of detention recently said “ Satya Pal Naam Ka Satya raha means Satya Pal was truthful only for name sake” which obviously is a reference to the rebuttals of the reports about the withdrawal of special status to Jammu & Kashmir by Satya Pal Malik even on August 4 last year a day before the erstwhile state was downgraded into two union territories and it’s special status under Article 370 and Article 35 A was withdrawn. Though Omar and other top mainstream leaders particularly his grandpa late Sheikh Mohmmmad Abdullah and father Farooq  Abdullah have the dubious distinction of selling only lies for about seven decades in Jammu and Kashmir but his remarks about the untruthfulness of Satya Pal Malik as Jammu & Kashmir Government are irrefutable. Satya Pal Malik as Governor of Jammu & Kashmir alleged recruitment scam in Jammu & Kashmir Bank and cancelled what he called “ fake appointments” but in less than 48 hours Malik withdrew his charges against the bank and called J&K Bank “ a wonderful bank” under the leadership of the then Chairman Bank Parvez Ahmad.
