Srinagar: Chairman People’s Democratic Front ( PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has welcomed statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that polls in jammu and Kashmir will be conducted soon and the ‘delimitation process’ is underway in the Union Territory.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, Hakeem Yaseen has welcomed the statement of Prime minister, made in his Independence speech, that “delimitation process is underway in Jammu and Kashmir. Once it is completed, an election will be held in the Union Territory. Jammu and Kashmir will have its own chief minister and ministers. We are committed to this’.
Hakeem said result oriented measures for restoration of political and election process was imperatives to end socio- political uncertainty and bring peace and normalcy in troubled Jammu and Kashmir . He said till effective measures are worked out in this regard , any idea of appointing political advisors for the Lt. Governor of J&K Union Territory, with an aim to make a connect with the people at the grass root level, would be in the larger interests of the common populace. He said restoration of a meaningful political process to pave way for a civilian government in the troubled Jammu and Kashmir was need of the hour . He said Governor’s rule was no substitute to a civilian government as in Central rule, common people do not have easy access to the administration so they remain almost unattended and neglected. He said in Governor’s rule, administration runs on the whims of bureaucrats , without any political directive and surveillance adding that connection between the people and government becomes effective only with the active participation of public representatives.PDF Chairman said Jammu and Kashmir was passing through a grim situation and the people feel betrayed, neglected and isolated . He said, if effective measures were not taken to restore trust and faith of people at the earliest, the enemies of peace and tranquility could easily vitiate and exploit the fragile situation at their will. He has urged the Center to fulfill it’s commitment made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to satiate thier socio-political aspirations.
