Srinagar: Deputy Controller Enforcement, Legal Metrology Department Saturday imposed a fine of Rs. 2000 on a local bakery shop in Srinagar city for selling underweight bakery items like butter cake, bakerkhanis etc.
The action against the erring was taken after people complained against the said baker and the enforcement team found the complaints genuine.
As per the rates fixed by Director, Food, Civil, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Kashmir, the weight of 250 gm butter-cake is to be sold for Rs. 70/- and the weight of Bakerkhanis as 50 g for Rs. 10/- .
In another case, a drug-store was penalized at Rs. 2000/- for offering for sale face-masks without mandatory declaration of MRP.
