VC SKUAST-J reviews achievements of SAMETI

Jammu: The annual review meeting of State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) Jammu was Thursday held, here at SAMETI Jammu under Directorate of Extension SKUAST Jammu following all COVID-19 SOPs. The Vice chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J.P. Sharma was the chief guest at the review meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. J P Sharma, appreciated the activities of SAMETI Jammu and laid emphasis on constraints and challenges in agriculture such as small size of holdings, high cost of cultivation, decline in water table, climate change scenario.
Professor Sharma suggested for including training program on Agri-Business/Entrepreneur, production to profitability, zero budget farming, organic farming, Agro-Based industries, farmer producer organizations, diversification, doubling farmers’ income, value addition, marketing and awareness of centrally sponsored schemes.
At the outset, Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director SAMETI and Director Extension SKUAST Jammu, welcomed the chief guest and officers of the allied departments.
He presented the work done by SAMETI Jammu during 2019-20 and also discussed in detail the proposed trainings to be conducted in 2020-21 in consultation with all the officers present in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by R.K. Bhagat, Additional Director, Sericulture Jammu, Bal Krishan Chandan Jt. Director Agri. (Extension), Jammu, Dr. Tara Chand Jt. Director (Farms), Sheep Husbandry Department, Jammu, Gopal Krishan Chief Project Officer (Fisheries)R.F.F.D.A, Jammu Division, Vijay Upadhaya Project Officer (C.A.D.), Jammu, K.K. Sharma Agri. Economist, Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu, J.C. Raina SMS-Regional Level, Joint Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu, R.K. Pangotra, Distt. Horti. Officer, Jammu, Sunil Singh Landscape Officer , Katra, Dr. Rajeev Manhas T.O.G to Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Jammu and Dr. D.D. Dogra Dy. Director Poultry, Animal Husbandry, Jammu.
The formal of vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Ramakant Sharma Dy. Director SAMETI while proceedings were conducted by Puja Nayyer Dy. Director SAMETI Jammu.
