DGP sanctions Rs 80 lakh spl welfare relief to NoKs of personnel who died in harness, also sanctions ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh to NoKs of 3 slain CRPF men

Srinagar/Aug,7: In order to provide help to the families of the Police personnel who have passed away while in service, the Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 80 lakh as Special Welfare Relief in favour of dependents/legal heirs of five such deceased Police personnel. The DGP has also sanctioned ex gratia of rupees 15 lakh for NoKs of three CRPF personnel of 92 Bn who attained martyrdom in a militant attack.

The special welfare relief of rupees 19 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of three deceased Police personnel ASI Maqsood Hussain, HC Chander Dev, HC Anoop Singh and Follower Devinder Kumar who expired while serving the Police department. Rupees 4,50,000 has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of SPO Davinder Singh who expired during the course of his engagement.
Rupees one lakh each for four Police personnel and rupees 50,000 was already paid to the deceased family for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the concerned units. The financial assistance to the police personnel/SPOs has been sanctioned out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund. The DGP has also sanctioned financial assistance of rupees 1 lakh each out of Central Police Welfare Fund in respect of two Police personnel whose residential houses were damaged in different incidents of cross border shelling and accidental fire.
Meanwhile the DGP has sanctioned ex-gratia relief of rupees 5 lakh each in favour of NoKs of CRPF personnel Ct/GD Ashwani Kumar, Ct/GD Santosh Kumar and Ct/GD C. Chandra Sekar of 92 Bn CRPF who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack at Wangam Crossing, Handwara on 4th May 2020. Police headquarters has launched a number of schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards as also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
