Srinagar: Chairman Peoples’ Democratic Front ( PDF) and Former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Tuesday said that celebrating unconstitutional measures won’t change the public discourse in Jammu & Kashmir , instead constitutional course correction could lead to
return of normalcy and popular rule. He impressed upon the Prime Minister Narinder Modi and Home Minister to immediately address the core concerns and genuine
political aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmi to bring public order back on rails.
In a statement issued on the ‘completion of one year of August 5,2019 decisions’ PDF Chairman said that restoring the statehood and special status to August 4, 2019 position was the only way to restore peace, calm and normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir. He said Illogical and unconstitutional
changes carried out during last one year including new domicile law and a delimitation initiative have further provoked but not reconciled the people in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division. Asking the Government to take lessons from the roll backs of many of it’s decisions taken in last one year and huge amendments invoked in several measures announced in recent month, the PDF Chairman said not the hostile measures taken in recent months to usurp the basic civil rights of the bonafide local populations of Jammu and Kashmir but the reconciliatory measures for restoration of the basic civil
rights was the only way to restore popular rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said governance looked after by a team of careerist bureaucrats is in shambles and there was total disconnect between the government and the people at grass roots level . He impressed upon the Prime
Minister and the Home Minister to take immediate steps for restoring statehood and special status to August 4,2019 position before August 5 as this is the only way to bring people of Jammu & Kashmir on a
celebration mode on August 5.
