Srinagar: As many as 16 candidates from erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir qualified the prestigious civil service examination-2019, the results of which were declared by the Union Public Service Commission on Tuesday.
In total 14 candidates from J&K and two from Ladakh have cleared the prestigious three-stage examination.
Among them, five qualifiers are from Kashmir Valley. Those who qualified from Kashmir are Asif Yousuf (328 rank),Nadia Beigh (350), Aftab Rasool (412),Sabzar Ahmad Ganie 628), Majid Iqbal Khan (638) and Rayees Hussain (747) .
Nadia Beigh, who hails from Punzwa of Kupwara district, credited her family for her feat.
“ I would not have qualified the examination without support of my family. They were very supportive in my education,” Beigh added.
Beigh is the second female qualifier of prestigious examination from Kupwara after Ruwaida Salaam.
Another UPSC qualifier Majid Iqbal Khan of Shangus village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district said that qualified the examination in his third attempt.
“I couldn’t clear the interview round in previous attempts but I managed to make it to the final selection list this time,” he said
