Kotwal reviews progress under digitization of revenue record in Kathua

Kathua: Financial Commissioner Revenue, Dr Pawan Kotwal visited Kathua and took a detailed review of the ongoing digitization of revenue record and functioning of Revenue Department during a meeting here Monday.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua, O.P Bhagat apprised the Financial Commissioner of the progress made under writing Jamabandis and issuance of Domicile certificates in the district.
He informed that out of total 533 so far 379 Jamabandis have been completed and work on another 102 Jamabandis is in process.
He added that so far 42,536 domicile applications have been received all over the district, of which 34,921 Domicile certificates have been issued including 165 of West Pakistani Refugees.
The Financial Commissioner emphasized upon the revenue officers to pace up the work on Jamabandis and Digitization of all the records, and stressing on making error free entries in the record to be completed in a time bound manner.
On the occasion, Dr Kotwal directed that the process for issuing domicile certificates must be in accordance with given guidelines and emphasis must be to make it time bound and hassle free for the general public.
While reviewing the encroachment scenario of the district, the FC said the revenue staff must be vigil and act promptly on encroachments reported anywhere and book such encroachers in accordance with laid down procedure.
The FC was also apprised that the infrastructure for Computerization of Registration System under National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) has been set up at the district headquarter.
The facility will be made operational once the digitization of all records is completed in the district.
ADC Kathua, Atul Gupta; ADC Basohli, Tilak Raj Thapa; ACR Kathua, Davinder Paul; SDM Hiranagar; Tehsildar Kathua and other officers of revenue department were also present in the meeting.
