Kargil Vijay Divas: Girl NCC cadets of GCW Gandhinagar felicitate Veer Naaris

Jammu: The NCC Cadets of 2 J&K Girls Bn, Gandhi Nagar, in commemoration of Kargil Vijay Diwas, felicitated the Veer Naaris and presented a Specially designed Memento to them as a token of respect—a unique way of inculcating consolation and paying homage and tribute to the fallen heroes of the Kargil War.
Keeping in view the pandemic situation, all compulsory precautions were taken. Cdt. Shriya Gupta, Cdt. Meetali, Cdt. Avika Choudhary, Cdt. Anu Choudhary along with ANO visited the families of Shaheed Hav. Madan Lal, Vrc-18, Grenadiers, Shaheed Sep. Balwinder Singh-8 Sikh Regiment, Shaheed Grenadier Uddaymann Singh, SM, 18 Grenadiers, Shaheed Sub. Bahadur Singh-8 Sikh Regiment, Shaheed Sub. Ravel Singh, SM-8 Sikh Regement, Shaheed Major Ajay Jasrotia, SM-13 JAK.
The Cadets interacted at length with the Veer Naaris, Parents and Family members of the heroes and listened to the tales of heroism where father of Shaheed Lans Naik Devendra Singh showed a 21 year old letter of his son with pride that his son has bestowed him. ” My Son’s life is short but great, he will be remembered by the people of country till the world ends” uttered Kamaljeet Kour, the proud mother of Shaheed Balwinder Singh. A wallet with bullet marks was showed to cadets by the mother of Shaheed Granadier UdhayMan Singh popularly known as the ‘Tiger of Tiger Hill’. She proudly said “my son was Sher.” He killed twenty before attaining martyrdom.
The tears rolled down from the eyes of Veena Jasrotia, the mother of Shaheed Major Ajay Jasrotia when Cadet Taniya presented her a self made Sketch of her Son. Later, she took cadets to his room and showed them the prictures of Major Jasrotia from childhood to his martyrdom. Kamala Devi, Veer Naari of Shaheed Madan Lal VrC told cadets that “Uniform and Country was his first love”. She also showed his uniform to cadets which he used to wear with proud.
Overwhelmed with all the emotions and witnessing the saga of sacrifice, Courage, Valour, Brotherhood, Pride, Integrity and Patriotism, the cadets also paid tribute to the fallen heroes at Balidaan Satambh by wreath laying ceremony.
Cadets also made Posters, Paintings, recorded speeches and recited self composed Poems and uploaded them on their social media accounts to pay tribute to Kargil Heroes under the mentorship of ANO Capt. Shivani Sharma and C/T Suman Bala. Cadets also took part in Webinar and Quiz Competition organised by Jammu Group.
The Commanding Officer , 2 J&K Girls Bn. Jammu, Col. R.K. Sharma, KC, SC, SM applauded the efforts of cadets and ANO for paying the tribute to the Martyrs in a unique way of visiting their families and advised them to continue doing good work of felicitating them by presenting specially designed mementos.
Dr. Sangita Nagari, Principal of the College appreciated the efforts of cadets for their volunteer participation despite many constraints and ANO, Capt. Shivani Sharma for putting her heart and soul and act beyond the call of duty.
